Tired of creating (and maintaining) a separate online identity for each community you visit (such as KeyContent.org)? Then OpenID may be for you.
What is an OpenID?
- From OpenID.net
- OpenID means the elimination of multiple user names and passwords and a smoother, more secure, online experience.
- From Wikipedia
- OpenID is a decentralized single sign-on system. Using OpenID-enabled sites, web users do not need to remember traditional authentication tokens such as username and password.
This short video explains it all.
Get Your OpenID
You can get your own OpenID from any of these providers. At those sites you select a identifier (ID) and password.
Use Your OpenID
Then try it out on KeyContent.org. Log in using your OpenID in the field that asks for an OpenID.
Then your OpenID provider will ask if want this site to allow access to your OpenID (always, now, never).
And then KeyContent will ask if you have an account with us already or not. If you already have a KeyContent.org username, you can associate the username with your OpenID and future logins are easy.
Tell Others to use OpenID
Be sure to tell others about OpenID and tell them about KeyContent.org, too.
